Halloween is a time for transformation. This festive holiday is the one day of the year where we can proudly dress like someone or something else. It can also be dark and dangerous. Trick 'r Treat is a film that follows five different story lines on one Halloween night in an unsuspecting town. Danger lurks around every corner. However, it is difficult to see the evil or the innocent beneath the costumes and make up.
A demon prowls for blood under the guise of an innocent trick-or-treater. A cannibalistic monster hunts the streets for flesh dress as Grimm's most infamous virgin. A serial killer earns the trust of a child through his position as an educator. A reckless mean-girl dressed as an angel stirs up trouble after pranking an innocent girl dressed as a witch. Surely, Halloween night is a time for hiding one's true self. It is a time one cannot judge another upon first glance. No one can be trusted; no one can judge at face value.
Ephesians 6:12 - "For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places." (NLT)
Just as Halloween night signifies the deception of appearance, it is a problem among people every day of the year. Demons prey on people every day. People deceive at any moment. Darkness dwells around every corner. We must remain on guard.
KEEP ON THE LIGHTS.
The light protects you. It guides us. It spreads throughout the world. The light will save you. Let the light save not only on Halloween night, but also throughout your lives.
