Not many sequels surpass their predescessors. Deadpool 2 is one such sequel. By the end of Deadpool , Wade succeeds in defeating his enemy and saving one woman. Still, he fails to become a true hero, selfless and caring. He lack motivation to save others.
Anti-hero Wade Wilson continues his journey in Deadpool 2
to become a better hero and a better man, a lesson that remains unlearned. He must learn to love everyone as unconditionally and selflessly as he loves Vanessa. Tragically, he must lose her in order to learn. His loss guides his journey.
Vanessa then becomes his spiritual guide and she leads him to Firefist, an powerful boy in desperate need of kindness and love. Otherwise, his future is doomed to a life of hatred and violence. Deadpool's mission is to not only protect Firefist from physical threat, but also to save him from himself.
Firefist must experience unconditional love, while Deadpool must learn to give it. This is no easy lesson. Meer conversation is not enough. His countless attempts to reason with the boy is not enough.
The most effective expression of love is sacrifice. He sacrifices his power in order to sacrifice his life. It is the only way to save the life and soul of Firefist. In doing so, he also saves himself and emerges a true hero.
He makes friends. His relationship with Vanessa is restored. Most importantly, he finds a his purpose as a hero.
