Would you walk away from a noble purpose in order to provide for the family you love?
How does one weigh such a heavy decision?
Michael MacCauley makes the choice easily. He resigns his position as a police in favor of a career in sales in order to provide for the family he loves. Every morning for ten years he drags himself out of bed at dawn, commutes for hours by train to New York, and works hard. He is diligent regardless of his profession, and he does it all for love.
Michael is also gifted. He is a vigilant man. He reads people well. He is resourceful. It what makes him thrive as both an officer and a salesman. Those skills are why is targeted. On a particularly bad day at work, a mysterious woman comes out of nowhere and makes an enticing offer. He must deliver one life on the train in exchange for his family's safety and $100,000.
Would this choice be as easy as the last?
This is where this "organization" gravely underestimates the inner cop in Michael. Not only is he skilled, but he is also honest and noble. He values life and justice, even in the face of temptation and danger. Even at the greatest cost of all: his family. This is where he draws the line.
The purpose behind a police officer is to serve and protect, not to merely investigate. He restores his purpose as a protector by protecting his fellow commuters. He protects the innocent person targeted by this corrupt, mysterious organization. He protects future targets. He resists temptation.
We never know when opportunity comes knocking. There are bad opportunities and good opportunities. We must be able to know the difference by understanding the difference between right and wrong. We must be strong enough to resist temptation. By making the right decisions and resisting bad opportunities, he is rewarding with the right opportunity. His career in the force is restored.
