Netflix kick starts the Christmas season with "Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey", a colorful musical that looks like it belongs to the Disney Channel.
It is the story of Toymaker Jeronicus Jangle who suffers incredible loss after a grave injustice. His impressionable apprentice, Gustafson, disappears with Jangle's invention book on the eve of his greatest invention. Jangle loses everything, including his spirit, while Gustafson builds an empire off with his stolen ideas.
Jangle's heart is broken by the betrayal, and his mind becomes blocked from any further ideas. Bankruptcy looms around the corner. Unless he can deliver an invention, he risks the loss of his shop. The only way to save himself is to invent something new and better than ever.
Meanwhile, Gustafson runs out of ideas. The book reaches an end, and he has no ideas of his own. Both men face financial hardship for the same reason. Both become desperate. What they need most is inspiration. It comes in the form of a child name Journey Jangles, the granddaughter of Jeronicus. Her most important task is to reignite the spark of inspiration within him, so he can get back to work and save his shop.
The world is always in motion. There is a constant need for new ideas and intentions. Nothing stays popular forever. The world needs creative people and their ideas. That's the difference between thieves and creative people: creation.
Thieves steal ideas, but those ideas eventually run out. Creative people, on the other hand, have the ability to come up with something new. They are gifted with inspiration. That is the legacy of the Jangles family. Gustafson lacks inspiration.
More importantly, he lacks patience. Gustafson squanders his golden opportunity to learn from the greatest toymaker. He could have created his own legacy, instead of stealing from Jeronicus. He could have been part of the family. However, his impatience and greed rob him of that opportunity. He'll never know true inspiration.
All he had to do was wait.
