Psalm 118:8 - "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people." (NLT)
The story of Atomic Blonde occurs in Berlin in the 1980s during the fall the Berlin Wall where Agent Lorraine Broughton must protect and escort a German informant out of Berlin to safety.
It is an impossible mission. Berlin is a dangerous city filled with dangerous people. Agents from all over the world want the information from this informant. Or they want to kill him. Broughton's only goal is to get him out of Berlin alive. Meanwhile, her friends and colleagues are dying around her.
The truth is she can't trust anyone. Regardless of the informant's security, the truth she discovers about the rogues in her midst is far more valuable. Only then is she able to obtain the invaluable information belonging to the informant.
Atomic Blonde though tragic, violent, and graphic is a prime example of our world. Like the movie it is filled with tragedy, violence, and immoral behavior. Like the movie it is filled with untrustworthy people. People who destroy. People who betray. People who rob. People who break our hearts.
Broughton is extremely admirable beneath her rough exterior. She is strong, independent, and intelligent. She is guarded. She is loyal to her mission in life. She is ready for anything life throws at her. She is a true role model.
The film also serves as a reminder that no one in this world can be trusted. So, we must place our trust in God. For it is only He who can be trusted. Let us all place our trust in God.
