RED RIDING HOOD (2011) Movie Review
Matthew 7:15 says, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves” (NLT).
The characters in Red Riding Hood are much more involved with the intense mysteries and secrets of the village people including the wood cutter, Grandmother, and the parents. Even the red cloak holds dark meaning that causes a witch-panic among the people, because the people are driven by fear. They lose trust in each other; even best friends and family turn on each other. Fear can be very destructive.
What is the cause of this fear? A murdering, ravenous wolf that they later discover lives among them in the village. He is a human by day and a werewolf by night. He wears the skin of a human to trick the people into trusting him. Then, he takes advantage of his influence to turn on them later. Meanwhile, everyone is too busy suspecting each other to notice who he really is. I’ll give you a hint. It’s not any of the original characters, not the woodcutter, not Red Riding Hood, and not the Grandmother. Who is it? You’ll never suspect.
That’s exactly the method of a true false prophet. He’ll turn you on your family and friends. He’ll hide in the shadows to avoid attention on himself. He’ll play a convincing innocent. Then, when everyone least suspects, he attacks without warning and without mercy. Beware of the big bad wolf. Don’t forget your scriptures and, above all, love each other as Christ loves us.
